08/04/2020 – Practice Guides Updated

informed Practice Guides are a series of guidance notes covering topics on which consultants commonly ask us for assistance. They range from contract-related topics such as Working on Your Own Terms and Fitness for Purpose, to practical issues like Inspections and Certification and Product Substitutions. Regular users and those who keep a locally saved copy for their staff will want to know that, in March 2020, we reviewed and updated some of them.

Our Practice Guides are free to professional indemnity insurance clients of Planned Cover and available for purchase as part of an informed subscription. You can view or download them from our website with a login. (If you’re not sure of your login, contact us or ask your Planned Cover Account Manager.)

Each year our Risk Managers review the Practice Guides to update references and refresh content where necessary. Whilst for most of our Practice Guides none or only minor amendments were required this year, the following Guides were more significantly edited:

Copyright and Moral Rights

Some sections of this Practice Guide were re-drafted to add further general information on copyright and moral rights to assist practitioners in understanding the basic principles of this complex area of law.

Dispute Resolution

Amendments to this Practice Guide include updated references to current tribunals in Australia.

Project and Construction Managers

Updates to this Practice Guide include a note about professional registration requirements which may be introduced following recommendations made in the Shergold-Weir report.
